The History and Origins of the N*O*T*.
To understand the history of the formation of this order, one must understand the body of research that has led to its creation, which spans several centuries. The written history of the Golden Dawn, the formation of the AA and the OTO, are quite extant and well resourced, so there is little need in this discourse, to detail it (resources). The formation of the N*O*T* can be traced as a direct link to C.S. Jones authoring of the 'Q.B.L.'. Jones' document was the first written treatise which explored revising the classical 'Tree of Life' to fit the cosmology of the emerging Aquarian Age. Jones would write several authentic Qaballistic works throughout his later life, but it was his obscure work, Liber 31, which would lead to a successor, William W. Webb, to create the Q*B*L*H* as an initiatory order. Webb would quietly teach Sexual Alchemy for many decades, and then would later adapt the cipher system of ALW to this work, as it seemed to symbolically speak to the Stellar Magick symbolically outlined in Liber AL.
The Q*B*L*H* would quietly lie on the periphery of the emerging Thelemic community for decades, with Webb working with a very small group of practitioners and initiates. This began to change in the late 70's and 80's, when a student of Webb's Timothy Coutu, wrote an advanced text analysis software aptly called 'Lexicon'. Lexicon would allow for the first large scale computer-driven cipher analysis in English texts to be available to non-professional academics and devotees. From him, a large body of work, an entire codex, emerged from this research.
While this branch in America continued, In the United Kingdom, Jim Lees would be working with his own small group under their own branch, the O*A*A*, which was devoted to the Astrological Magickal system in Liber AL, and their own foundational work with the ALW cipher. A colleague of Lees, and lifelong magician, Jake Stratton-Kent, would further codify the attendant cosmology with his lifelong study of classical grimoires such as the Goetia and the Grimorum Verum. Stratton-Kent would be instrumental in creating the dialog now present between both groups. In the early 1990s, Timothy Coutu would transition to becoming Tina Coutu, and, along with her colleague Sashia Agape, would found Lodge Babalon Q*B*L*H in Atlanta GA. It was here that very intense ritual work, combined with equally intense focus on Qaballistic studies. Many people were involved with this work, but the large body of data, and the discoveries set forth on this website, are the work of one man, Joel Love.

Who was Joel Love?
Edgar Joel Love Jr., (a.k.a. the 'Magus Love'), (Jan. 31, 1960-Jun. 7th, 2015) was a lifelong spiritual seeker and practitioner of Thelemic Magick, who, in the opinion of those who knew him, one of the most effective pastoral counselors who ever lived. Joel spent time as a Scientologist, and then left the group to study Neuro Linguistic Programming, General Semantics and Ericksonian Hypnotism. Love was also a mathematical genius, and for a time, was a cryptographer for the U.S. Coast Guard. A natural codebreaker, Joel combined his love of math, language and the qaballah, into a unique method of counseling with which he was able to help dozens of close friends and family members over several decades. Joel was a master of the Tantrayoga techniques outlined in the Upper Degrees of O.T.O., and during his time of activity, he synthesized a new application of Stellar Magick and the ALW cipher, one that would reconcile the English Qaballah with the older forms of occultism into a new, unified system for modern times. Love would form peerage and close ties with such people as Kerry Thornely, the founder of 'Dioscordianism', and author of the 'Principia Discordia', and the philosopher Robert Anton Wilson.
Joel Love left behind many serious students of his work, who interpret Thelema along the lines of his tutelage, one of the first of these students was Tom Chaudoin, who began working with Love in the early 90's. Chaudoin would work with Love for over 15 years, and, on April 8th, 2004, he would found the N*O*T* on his own recognizance. Under the behest of Joel Love himself, Chaudoin kept the Order dormant and quiet until such time as the world was ready to see the full release of this work. With his untimely passing, we, his students, have taken upon ourselves to reveal this work, and to see to it that his contributions do not fade from the Earth.
